About Us:
Established in 2015 and administered through the Community Foundation of Ottawa, the Ottawa Art Society was conceived in the belief in the transformative power of the arts to effect change in our society.
We provide an avenue for those who wish to support the visual arts in Ottawa to do so through their donations to the Ottawa Art Society Fund.
The Community Foundation of Ottawa
The Community Foundation of Ottawa is a public, non-profit organization created by and for the people of Ottawa, which pools the charitable gifts of many donors into an income-earning endowment that benefits the community at large. The Ottawa Art Society Fund is a Donor-Advised Fund, which allows us to recommend which charitable organizations are to receive grants from the funds each year, and in what amount, leaving the responsibility of financial and administrative management of the fund to the Community Foundation.
How we work:
Our team of advisors, all of whom are arts professionals, meet four times a year to review potential recipients and projects. Grants are given annually to non-profit organizations recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency as registered charities.
To donate:
We invite you to join us in creating a sustainable fund that supports the visual arts in Ottawa, and we encourage donors of all ages and of all financial means to become involved. All donors who give $20 or more will receive a charitable receipt.
Our first grant:
Our first grant of 2016 will be awarded to the Ottawa Art Gallery Expansion Fund. We are excited to have this new arts complex in our Nation’s Capital, and are delighted to support the Ottawa Art Gallery and this wonderful initiative.
