As a woman I am usually thought of as the more emotional and susceptible type when it comes to sex and relationships, and the men are portrayed as mostly physical and detached.
In exchange I wanted to be the one in control, and make the women seem disconnected and the men be in a vulnerable position. I observed this emotional beauty
I realized that while in this state of vulnerability, I was able to capture great emotion and it is in fact portraits of great intimacy. You get to view this essence through body language that most men don’t normally share freely, and as a result they are such an honest portrayal of emotion.
I started this series of portraits as a test for myself to push my boundaries as a photographer. It started as a plan to document my sexual experiences while being a single woman in my mid 20′s and make it into an overwhelming catharsis experience. The experience didn’t go as intended, and I ended up falling in love while in the midst of it.
