The photographic medium posits both the duality of constructed realms and that which we deem reality. A photograph holds the ability to mark the viewer with sights that can be imprinted in memory as fact. In a flash, the eye takes in a photograph, in much the same way that the eye documents the three dimensional world that we live in. It seems that memory is not tied to the dimensional space that we live in, but rather can process all dimensions in similar fashion. Angelina McCormick and Gaelyn Eyre now turn this ability to the inner world that cannot be processed through the eye. The inner state of a human has found expression through words within society, using an entirely different sense to understand that which is happening within and without. By using the camera to construct scenes that emanate this interior, McCormick and Eyre try to break through this verbose notion, and entice the eye to see the inner world that exists within each and everyone of us.

Artists’ Statement:
These photographs are artifacts of our emotional provocation tinged by fragility and doubt, and counterbalanced by our formal rigor and control. They play with and explore our need to make something physical and tactile. They are based on spaces, which dwell in our mind – our memory, fantasy, and reality. It is our expression of our relationship within the world we live.
