La Petite Mort Gallery is pleased to showcase Degrandpre’s newest series. Now into the dark and lonely winter months, the bright colouration that is integral to Degrandpre’s works lighten the solace of winter. We invite you to take a walk through his garden, but be prepared, this is no innocent jaunt. This one will break into a world that is often spoken about in hushed tones. Degrandpre paints fantastical desires and creates scenes that will leave you joyfully abashed.

Jeremiah Degrandpre’s newest show is certain to please collectors of his work and entice those new to his command of light, form, and colour. Working with one of his favourite subjects, Jeremiah plays to both his strengths and his wicked sense of humour. A series of works celebrating the delicate and fleeting beauty of the natural world should be simply a walk in the park for this consistently talented artist. But what a walk he takes us on!
Demonstrating his command of composition and figure, Degrandpre takes us for a summer stroll down a garden path that amazes the senses with his controlled use of colour and excites them with a peek at what is to be found behind the bushes. Reminiscent of the Garden of Earthly Delights, Degrandpre gives us much to appreciate that is nature, and much that is simply “natural”.
Jeremiah learned his craft at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and the University of Ottawa. While he has, over the last 15 years, specialized in small impasto oil works this show demonstrates his versatility with some larger pieces as well. – Bill Staubi, 2010
