DISCIPLES Curator Talk

In October 2013, Guy Bérubé and I went to Santiago de Chile to present the exhibition, Post Mortem, which included works by both Chilean and LPM artists. While we were in Santiago, we took a side trip to Valparaiso, where we were introduced to the artist, Cristobal Traslaviña, who gave us a tour of the Parque Cultural de Valparaíso, where he worked. The Parque Cultural de Valparaíso is on the grounds of a former prison, el Cerro Carcel de Valparaiso, which housed political prisoners during the Pinochet regime.

While he was in Valparaíso, Guy met with Justo Pastor Mellado, the Director of Parque Cultural de Valparaíso, and discussed the idea of producing a series of photographs of some of the former political prisoners and showing them in an exhibition at the Parque Cultural de Valparaiso and at la Petite Mort Gallery.

The resulting exhibition, The Disciples, opened in Valparaíso on 19 November 2014 and featured photographs by Chilean photographer, Alexis Mandujano, of twelve former political prisoners.

The exhibition will open at the LPM Gallery on Friday 6 March and will run through 29 March 2015. For more information, please go to: http://www.guyberube.com/march-2015/

We thought it would be interesting to hear more about the exhibition and have invited Guy Bérubé, the Project Director, and Adam Barbu, the Exhibition Curator, to talk about the exhibition on Thursday 19 March at the LPM Gallery. The doors will open at 7 pm, the talk will start at 8 pm, and we invite you to join us. Refreshments will be served.

The fee for the evening is $25 for non-members. If you would like more information or would like to join us for the talk, please contact me for details.

In order to help us with our planning, please let me know if you would like to join us.

Thank you and best wishes,
