If our unconscious controls our moods, then how do we truly know what it is that makes us feel happy, ecstatic, humdrum or downright angry? We have resorted to verbalizing why we feel a certain way, but perhaps the unconscious is better served by a more direct form of translation. Slim uses his brush to unravel his emotions, to express himself and discover that which lies beneath. His bright colouration, thick impasto and wonderful composition reveal a complex character with a lyrical soul. Come discover the inner world of Alexander Slim, and meet the artist in person as well. -Christina Anastassopoulos, 2010

Artist Statement:
Using paint as my medium and a pallet knife as my tool. I paint unconsciously as a means to lose myself. My art is a mixture of color, texture; Motion and strokes; Chaos and control. My artistic expression serves also as a means of self-discovery. I paint freely in the moment with no clear idea of the final product. Relying only on colors, texture and emotion to guide me. -Alexander Slim, 2010
