Artist: Ivan Kenneth Eyre (Canadian, b.1935)
Born in Tullymet, Saskatchewan in 1935, Ivan Eyre is best known for his ethereal paintings of the prairie landscape. A graduate of the University of Manitoba, Eyre also studied at the University of North Dakota before accepting a full time teaching position at the University of Manitoba in the late 1950s where he worked until his retirement in 1993.
Eyre’s work has been exhibited in countless solo and group exhibitions throughout Canada and abroad, and are included in private and public collections including the National Gallery of Canada and the MacKenzie Art Gallery. Eyre was elected a member of the Royal Canadian Academy in 1974.
