Antique Pewter Flask

Antique Pewter Flask. Measures 5.75 inches height x 1.74 inches width x .75 inches depth.

Still smells of rosewater (perfume mix) on the inside. Stamped on bottom: “British Rothman / Pewterware / Made by Craftmen / Sheffield England” (hard to read).

Hand made Sheffield pewter hip flasks and other fine quality gifts from Sheffield Pewter Craft Company, based in Sheffield, England.

All Flasks and Tankards are made from 100% lead-free pewter sheet by skilled craftsmen, using old and new techniques such as pewter smithing,  spinning,  centrifugal casting, buffing , polishing and engraving.

The person who sold it to me explained that this item was carried as by a priest in the 1940’s & 50’s, not a flask for hiding alcohol while on call, but rather, was used to carry rosewater whihc was used when giving last rights, since many of the duying or dead may not have had the most favorable odors when giving last rights. Im sure many family members probably initally saw the flask and were appalled, then realized it’s purpose.

$35.
