Adam J. Ansell
Painter
The daring paintings of Adam J. Ansell take the viewer into a bizarre and bold-colored world that may be identifiable, yet not the same for each person. Adam instinctually uses his initial color field to dictate who and what is to be coaxed out of the paint. He responds impulsively to each colored mark and exaggerated tone, consciously keeping alive the natural element of chance. After the latex paint accumulates on the wood to it’s required texture, and the melting outlines begin to take shape, Adam reduces the subject matter, which forever lives underneath the painting’s background- infusing the flat areas with explosive underlying energy and matter, and sustaining the life of the primary subject. The expressionistic works are finally glazed with a glossy acrylic finish, which accentuates the richness of color, and density of each painting. Adam’s edgy high fashion paintings are filled with contradictions: interior and exterior, passionate and empty, rugged and delicate, improvisational and meditational, spontaneous and labored, stark and festive.
